Save Teenage Mothers and Their Babies in Rwanda: Give Them a Second Chance Through GAAFAADE.
Friends, my name is Nduwimana Jean Paul, a young social entrepreneur and community servant from Rwanda. I thank Monique van Dam for the support and helping me organizing this fundraising.
In Rwanda, thousands of teenage girls are forced into motherhood before they're ready struggling alone, rejected by their families, and cut off from education. The crisis is real. According to the statistics, over 23,000 teenage pregnancies were recorded in just one year.
Many of these young mothers are as young as under 18 years old.
Behind these statistics are faces, dreams, and futures lost unless someone decides to step in.

Why I Chose to Stand for Teen Mothers: A Personal Reflection
I often ask myself:
If the future of the world belongs to the youth, what kind of world will we have when that youth is made up of hopeless teen mothers and broken communities full of desperation and trauma?
This question used to haunt me especially every time I heard a painful story of a young girl forced into motherhood far too early. Stories of girls thrown out by their families. Girls who had to raise children alone. Girls who never got to finish school or dream again. But one memory never left me.
Years ago, in my home village, I came across an abandoned baby just two months old left in the forest. Alone. Forgotten. That day changed me. It wasn't just a tragic moment. It was a call to action. I realized that I could no longer look away. These weren’t just stories. These were lives, and they needed people who cared enough to stand up.
That’s when I said to myself:
"Time is now, I have to be part of the solution."
From that point on, the idea of GAAFAADE was born not just as a project, but as a mission grounded in lived experience, compassion, and the belief that every girl deserves a second chance, no matter her past.

GAAFAADE: Restoring hope, dignity, and opportunity
As the founder of Necessary Generation, I could no longer stand by and watch young lives fall apart.
That’s why I decided to launch the GAAFAADE Youth Empowerment Centre, a life line for teen mothers and their babies. This initiative came from a deep place in my heart. I’ve been working on this idea for years, driven by the belief that no girl should be discarded because of a crisis she didn’t choose.
We built our own training center where teenage mothers are empowered with real skills:
- Sewing and Fashion Design
- Entrepreneurship and Income Generation
- Life Education and Personal Growth
The transformation we’ve witnessed is powerful. Broken girls become confident, skilled, and creative young women able to raise their children and take back control of their future.
But now, we’re at a breaking point.

We need urgent help to keep the doors open
Despite the success stories, our center is under immense financial pressure:
- We have some sewing machine but no sewing materials for our teen mothers during the
- We don’t have enough sewing machines
- Our have an ICT room but with no enough materials, limiting digital education
- We struggle to pay monthly rent and electricity at the center
- We can’t properly support our volunteer trainers, who dedicate their time and skills for free
Every day, more young moms knock at our door, but we risk turning them away because we simply can’t meet the demand.

Help us build a sustainable future for GAAFAADE
Your support will help us:
- Purchase sewing machines, fabrics, and tools
- Equip the ICT lab for digital training
- Cover operational costs like rent, electricity, and support for trainers
- Continue producing GAAFAADE-made fashion and affordable sanitary pads to generate income and reinvest into the project
We believe in a future where GAAFAADE becomes a self-sustaining social enterprise, giving hundreds of teen moms a new chance not just now, but for generations. Now that many of our teen mothers are skilled and ready to produce marketable items, your support will help us take the next step.
With the funds we raise, we will purchase essential materials, fabrics, sewing machines, and other tools so our young mothers can begin creating high-quality products for sale.
This is how we will transform skills into income, and hope into sustainable opportunity.

From my heart to yours
This project is not just an initiative. It’s my dream. I’ve carried it for years, and when I feel like giving up, it feels like I’m failing the girls who believed in me. But I know that with the right support, we can turn this dream into a legacy.
By supporting this campaign, you’re not just giving money, you’re giving a mother her dignity, a baby a safe start, and a community a second chance.

"Supporting a teen mother is like resurrecting a life the world had almost given up on." - Nduwimana Jean Paul
Thank you so much for your support!
