Adoption News! - Help us to bring our baby home
Donation protected
Dear Friends & Family - after three long years of filling out paperwork, participating in various (and numerous) parenting training and a LOT of praying ... we finally have news about our adoption!
We are so blessed to introduce our beautiful baby boy:
Andre Joseph Chase, born in Bogota, Colombia on October 30th, 2023.
"Wait, what adoption!" many of you are asking. Well, adoptions are not an easy process and little is guaranteed for older parents like us. This is the primary reason we kept quiet about it. But through a lot, and I do mean A LOT of prayer we entered this journey again. For as it says in Matthew 6:21 "For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also". Our kids, I'm sure like all other parents reading this, are our treasures. In God's plan for our family, adoption has been HIS chosen way for us.
So what's next?
We have submitted with Immigration updated paperwork with Andre's name and we are waiting for that. We anticipate traveling to Colombia mid-June timeframe and are required to stay in country for 8-weeks. We anticipate being home in August, just in time for Mariana & Santiago to start school.
So why the GoFundMe page?
The adoption process not only takes a toll on your emotions & patience, but it is also rather expensive. Google says the average cost of an international adoption from Colombia ranges from $39k - $58k. Our agency has stated $43k - $63k. I know, those numbers are ridiculous, but those are the hard facts.
Thus far...
We have spent around half that amount, $30k, from our savings. Most of you know we live pretty modestly as we find value in other parts of life (see Matthew 6:21 again). However, we have been encouraged to reach out to our friends and families to assist us in reaching this goal.
We have been continually saving for the future expenses in Colombia, but if your heart moves you to support us in covering these last expenses of this journey, we would be immensely thankful.
All funds raised will go towards paying for the final agency fees here in the U.S ($11,000) and fees in Colombia such as the orphanage that is taking care of Andre, travel, medical, legal, and immigration fees as well.
As stated above, currently we have an outstanding invoice with the adoption agency for $11,000. If you would prefer to send funds directly to the agency, their information is below:
