Beal Adoption

Hello.  My name is Charlie Beal and my wife, Rebecca, and I are adopting a sweet little baby girl from India.  You may be wondering, "Why adopt?  Why India?"  Before I answer that, let me tell you a little bit about our family.

Nearly 10 years ago, God blessed us with a blonde-haired, blue-eyed baby girl by the name of Emmy.  She rocked our world with her sweet spirit and incredible personality.

A few years into her life we thought we would go the 'normal way' and have another child by birth before pursuing adoption.  As most of you know God's plans often do not align with our plans, but always are for our good, our benefit and to teach us.  And this is exactly what we saw happen in our life.

We found out we were pregnant and immediately after found out it had resulted in a miscarriage.  Although this is extremely normal through a series of events we took it as God telling us to move forward with adopting now rather than pursuing our 'plan' of having 2 bio kiddos first.  It was the best decision of our lives...but God already knew that!

So, after much prayer, 16 months of paperwork and waiting, we were blessed with our second child by way of Ethiopia.  Jeremiah has been nothing short of a miracle in showing us how we can love someone not born to us, but as if he was.  He's a happy, 100-word a minute little stud whom we couldn't love more.

A little over a year later, we were surprised to find out Becca was carrying our third child, Levi.  Let's just say this... This dude is a handful at most times, but when a baby comes around, he's as peaceful and caring as you can get from a 3 year-old.

This, amongst many other reasons, has allowed us to hear the call to adopt yet again.

So back to your questions...
"Why adopt?"  Well, the most common answer you may hear is "because we want to bless this child with a normal life and help them."  While that may be true to a degree, we know we will be far more blessed by our girl than she will be by us.  We're flawed and by no means perfect, so we again know our baby girl will teach us to no end.  And we feel we have a lot of love to share with her.

"Why India?"  That's a little bit longer of answer, but I'll try to keep it short.

When we began the adoption process this time, we actually started out to adopt from Ethiopia again.  We thought, "We love the country and have done it before, so why not go there again?"  But this time around, we found out we'd be waiting 4-5 years even in the "Special Needs" program.  This obviously got our attention, so began to pray about switching countries.

After praying about Ethiopia, Honduras, Haiti and India for about a month, we began to lean toward India.  The problem was, we weren't hearing a definitive answer, so one Saturday night, I threw it up to God in no uncertain terms that, "If our next child is in India, God, I want an answer tomorrow morning."  Kind of stupid and scary, right?

So the next morning, while getting ready for church, I received a text from a friend in California, whom I hadn't spoken to in a while.  I could give you the whole conversation, but I'll break it down quickly for you...

Friend:  Are you guys still fundraising for your adoption?
Me: Yes.
F: How much have you raised?
M: About $4,000
F: How much do you need?
M: About $36,000 more.
F: Well, my wife and I want to give you $20,000
M: Whaaaa....huh...(dropped phone)...tears...huh?

(A quick thank you to these people who wish to remain anonymous.  You've done more than we could have ever asked of you and you have huge, amazing hearts!)

So there it is.  We've been matched up with the sweetest little angel I can imagine.  She's in the first year of her life and has a "disability" but she was born that way... meaning she came out of the womb exactly how God intended her.  The only "disability" she has is she isn't with her family and we're missing her!  (We have to be vague about her age and "disability" until we pass court in India.)

Please consider helping us out.  Believe it or not, we value your prayers for her safety more than any amount of money, so if that is all you can give, know that it is more than enough and we appeciate it.

The unfortunate part of adoption is we do need money to pay for it, so if you would like to help out in that way, we would greatly appreciate that as well.

Either way, thank you for taking the time to visit this page and read our story.  Little India (our current nickname for her) will come home with us at some point and we're holding onto those dreams to get us through this tough waiting period.

Did I mention we need your prayers?!

Thank you,
The Beals
