Fight for Andry's Freedom and Justice
Donation protected
Andry Jose Hernandez Moreno, a young gay artist seeking asylum in the U.S., has been unjustly deported to a dangerous El Salvador prison based on a false claim about his tattoos. This is an urgent crisis, and Andry needs your immediate support to fight for his freedom and his right to a fair asylum hearing.
In August 2024, Andry fled persecution in Venezuela due to his sexual orientation and followed the legal process to seek safety in the United States. Instead of protection, he was detained and, shockingly, deported to a maximum-security prison in El Salvador. The U.S. government's reasoning? His crown tattoos, symbols of his artistic background and cultural heritage, were absurdly misinterpreted as gang affiliation.
This is a grave injustice. Andry was denied a fair hearing, his voice silenced, and his life now hangs in the balance in a dangerous foreign prison. His legal aslyum case team and family have lost contact with him, and his safety is our paramount concern.
A coalition of LGBTQ+ advocates in Los Angeles is rallying to bring Andry home. We have launched a GoFundMe to directly support the coalition's outreach campaign and activities to fund:
- Community Awareness for Andry
- Outreach activities, including supplies for marches, hosting rallies, and a press conference.
- The Fight for Andry's immediate return to the U.S.
- Ensure his right to a fair asylum hearing.
*All funds donated go directly to efforts that will amplify Andry's critical situation and raise the level of urgency for our elected leaders to demand for his return. These funds are not to cover legal fees for Andry's case. Funding is overseen by the Los Angeles LGBTQ Coalition for Andry. To ensure transparency, please feel free to contact us with any questions.
This is a direct call to action. Andry's life depends on our collective support. Your donation, no matter the size, will make a tangible difference in his fight for freedom.
Don't let injustice prevail. Stand with Andry. Donate now and help us bring him home!
