My name is Natacha, and I’m raising funds to help my fiancé, Vinicio Alvarez (aka DJ Vinicio Rotelli), who has been detained by ICE for over a month. Vinicio is a Chef, a DJ, a Promoter and a Mentor who was born in Venezuela, grew up in Spain, and has called the United States home since he was 17. He’s a larger-than-life character with a big heart, known for his incredible resilience and for building coming wherever he goes. As a chef, he’s brought people together through food, and as the creator of the Original Sin DJ event brand, he’s connected communities from Miami to New York to Texas. Despite a childhood marked by hardship—years in foster care, time in a children’s circus, and periods of homelessness—Vinicio has always found ways to lift others up and keep moving forward, no matter how tough things get.

Thirty-three days ago, our lives changed when Vinicio was detained. Since then, I’ve been the only one working, managing our home, and making the long drive every day to visit him so he doesn’t feel alone. So we both don’t feel alone. It’s hard without him, I miss him every single moment of every day. We just bought a house last year, and we were planning to get married later, but now we’re getting married inside the detention center. It’s not how we pictured it, but it’s a step we’re taking because circumstances have forced our timeline to change. Vinicio’s absence has been incredibly hard—emotionally, financially, and physically. There’s not enough time; every day is spent working, visiting, and fighting for his release, while also helping other families connect with their loved ones inside. No matter what happens, Vinicio is strong and resilient. He gets down, but he always gets back up—and so do I. I’m not stopping until he’s home, and once he is, we’ll keep fighting for others together.

Out of this experience, we’ve started building an organization and website called yougoIgo.org. The name comes from a promise I made to Vinicio when he was taken: "You go, I go." We want to make sure no one has to go through this alone. Our goal is to help other families find the resources and support they need, so they don’t have to struggle in the dark like we did. The funds raised will go toward attorney fees, bond costs, and the many expenses that come with detention—everything from basic necessities like clothing and phone calls to keeping our home afloat while I support us on my own. Your help will not only bring Vinicio home, but also support our mission to bring hope, connection, and practical help to others facing the same challenges.
