Hello there, mange hilsener~ My name is Krys, and I'm here today to ask for your help in uniting me with Lina, my wonderful partner in Norway!

A wild series of events made our meeting possible, and we very quickly clicked with each other, but the start of those events actually takes place three years back! Back then, I was reading a story series online that led me to chatting with its author, who I eventually wound up living with after a whole other wild series of events - and they talked me into posting up what I'd written so far of my own original novel.

Fast forward a year and nearly half a million words, and Lina found my story to leave some very lovely feedback, as well as some much-needed motivation. Naturally, we started chatting after that, swapping things we'd written back and forth, and - as people say - the rest is history.

We’re a pair of very, very silly nerds who share a lot of interests - chiefly writing sci-fi fantasy - and the things we want and expect in a relationship match up very well, too! We've both had partners who expected us to provide everything in the past, and we've already talked about how we'll split responsibilities evenly, supporting each other as a team of equals.

Until I'm able to legally work in Norway, the housework will be my responsibility, and alongside that, I'll be expanding my writing and art portfolio so I can hopefully make that my full-time job in the future. Lina has a solid, secure income, and they're working on their own original novel, too, so once we're living together, we'll be able to properly help each other with editing and soundboarding without all those pesky time zones getting in the way.

Now, how is that I turned to GoFundMe to try to get this done, exactly? Well, to put it mildly, I've wound up in a bit of a tricky housing situation. Putting aside the issues with the shady landlord, I'm pretty disabled, and I can't work much, and I have until the end of March to find a new place. Unfortunately, with the prices of rentals here in western Washington, finding something that suits my budget while still letting me accumulate savings is...well, disheartening and stressful, to say the least.

But, pretty much ever since Lina and I started talking daily, we've been making jokes about how I could swim across the Atlantic to Norway, and live in their empty garage like some sort of weird writin' gremlin. When I mentioned recently that I'm in a bit of a pickle, they mentioned they also have an empty attic, one that they could perhaps convert into a proper second floor for me to live on.

And then, I asked, very unseriously, if Lina had a friend who had a spare room in Norway, a friend who wasn't interested in ever getting married "For Real" (so to speak), but a friend who might still be down to marry some random US citizen like me, just so I could have a cheap place to crash and eventually apply for residency there.

Lina's response was, quite seriously, 'It's me. I'm that friend.'

So we started discussing the logistics. Legalities. Costs. And from there, what cohabitating might look like between us. Preferences. Boundaries. Pets. And, further still, we discussed what kind of partner we were actually looking for in life.

I never expected to find someone who checked all my most important boxes this way.

But I'm willing to do whatever it takes to cross that ocean to meet Lina in person, even if it means I do have to swim.

...I'd rather fly, though. I hear the water's very cold.

And that's why I'm asking, hoping, that you'll do us a kindness and lend us a helping hand. If you could spare either a share on social media, or a dollar or more towards the costs of me packing up what I own and immigrating to a whole new country, we would be ever so grateful - I certainly won't be able to thank you enough.

The more we make through this campaign, the more of my belongings I can bring with me, and the more support I can provide for Lina once we're finally together, and living our best life.

Whether you share, or donate, or even if you do nothing but listen - I wish you all the best, and I thank you so much for your time here today.

Tusen takk. Ha en flott dag, og ta vare på deg selv~

BASE GOAL COST BREAKDOWN:

Plane ticket costs: ~$600 round-trip for initial setup cohabitation of at least one month, plus ~$400 one-way trip for final move. Some of this cost will include bringing my two cats into the plane cabin with me.

Shipping costs: ~$2000 to ship belongings overseas. I will not be shipping furniture, but have a number of heavy items.

Entry holdings requirement: $1500 to be able to stay in Norway for at least one month, due to their requirement of a visitor needing to have $50 multiplied by how many days they will be staying. That money does not need to be spent, it just needs to be available to me upon entry. The funds will be used for the marriage process, with anything left over to be used for necessary furniture (i.e. a mattress) and food.

Pet visa: ~$200 for both of my cats to be microchipped, updated on their vaccines, and to get all their paperwork in order.

Back-up funds: ~$300 to fall back on in case of an emergency, such as needing a bus/train ticket, or a visit to an urgent care clinic/hospital.

EXCEEDED GOAL COST BREAKDOWN:

Everything over the base $5000 will be used to move the timeline forward, both for the initial setup and the final move. All excess left over will be used to assist Lina in monthly costs, including rent, bills, and food. A small portion may be used for minor furniture purchases (a writing chair + folding tray table).

ADDITIONAL DETAILS:

As disability benefits would not constitute "work", and I desperately need to be on disability, I will be begin the process of applying to the SSA for benefits during my stay with Lina. Once a temporary residence permit is acquired, I will be taking very part-time work for the short-term - not enough to prevent me from being approved for benefits, but enough to provide support to Lina.

Please note that the story told here isn't 100% chronological, and is dramatized somewhat for comedic effect. I want to move to Norway because I care deeply for my partner, and want to do everything I can to support them. I would not be willing to move across the globe and learn a whole new language otherwise.

ADDITIONAL SUPPORT METHODS:

If you would prefer to support our campaign in a different way, I offer art commissions on my Ko-Fi.
