Truth: The property of being in accord with fact

Hello. My name is Elena Serrano.

My sister, Elise Ruybal, and only sibling, was tragically murdered in her home in May of 2024. Sadly, some of the initial investigations were not conducted properly, and my nephew was placed with a different family member. There were many unfortunate and misleading things said to authorities and other entities that contributed to this placement. Some of the misinformation told to authorities were that I was a drug user and homeless. This is false. Other misinformation included that my mother and I never had a relationship with my nephew. This is also false.

We have been involved in his life for the duration of his life. We feel (know) it is not in the child’s best interest (as well as some others involved in decision making) that he remain in his current kinship placement, a home where one of the caretakers just received a DUI. (This information was found in the news paper) A home where a previous child placed there ran away from.

This go fund me was brought to the attention of officials involved in this case. Due to the nature of the case some of the information on this post needed to be removed so that it would not be seen as disparaging. Such as pictures and other facts of the case that are negative or could be viewed as disparaging such as the misleading information (letter from the police chief) and the DUI.

I would like to make it clear that Those things are negative by their nature not because I have made them negative.

Those who are familiar with this story know the facts of the case as well as many who were there to hear for themselves.

Thank you to my family and friends who have supported me through this. I am the child’s Aunt and closer next of kin than who he is placed with.

I am married with a 6 year old son and a two year old son. My nephew and son are just three months apart. He should be here with us in a loving, caring, home with two boys to grow up with alongside him.
