About Me

Hi! I'm Amy Hughes, the passionate baker behind Town Buzz Café and a familiar face known to many as "Amy the Baker." As a longtime Corte Madera resident with deep roots in Marin County, I've made it my mission to create a gathering space where we can truly connect. Born and raised in Mill Valley, I've dedicated myself to becoming an integral part of our local community. The minute I made the career change from white collar to white apron, I knew I had found my true calling! Baking isn't just about creating delicious treats—it's how I show I care for the people around me. Over the past 14 years, I have curated a line of baked goods that cater to all food tolerances: from grain-free to vegan to fully-loaded, old school coffee cake!

In order to get to this point, during the past two years, I've worked diligently with the City of Corte Madera and secured approval for a 12-month pilot program, for the food mobile food cart. What began as my vision to bring people together has evolved, through persistent advocacy and meetings that led to the town officials support, into a reality. This achievement marks a significant milestone as Town Buzz will become the first mobile café in our beloved Menke Park! The food trailer will permanently reside in the space in the parklet. With the Town Buzz Cafe, I'll have the chance to see friends daily and craft specialty items that bring joy to our community. I'm ready to go and just need your help to make this happen!

Our Funding Goal: $50,000

Your support will help bring this community café to life! The funds will cover the initial startup costs including the turn-key coffee trailer, equipment, permits, supplies, and operational expenses for the first six months, while we work to make the space self-sustaining.

Stretch Goal: In addition to start-up costs, we are aiming for an additional $15,000 to construct outdoor seating for various activities—from chess to mahjong, young parent meet-up and book clubs. We will create shared community tables and extend the menu to include a comprehensive smoothie and bowl menu.
