Hi my name is Josh and I am fundraising to bring this painting of my late grandfather Scott, painted by my grandmother Penny Dowie, back into the family. The painting titled “The Surveyor General’s Coat” was painted and sold in 1976 and all but forgotten about until recently my grandmother was notified that it was put up for auction in Adelaide, where it somehow failed to receive a bid. The lovely people at Elders Fine Art have now offered it back to us for a very low price and it just feels like it’s trying to make its way home which is why I have decided to try fundraise as no one in our family have the funds to spend on it. If you know me you know I hate asking anything of anyone without offering something in return but this is an important piece of my family’s history. My Grandpa Scott was a stockman who worked in some wild places and this painting completely embodies the stories we heard as kids. Please, if you have a spare dollar, it would mean the world to us to have your help
thank you
