Bring the Hoopes Family home!
Donation protected
This GoFundMe is has been created to assist Mark and Tonya Hoopes to bring their two adopted sons home from Tanzania.
In August of 2014 Mark and Tonya began the adoption process for Stephano Hussein and Angelo Izack who were living in a mismanaged orphanage in Tanzania. In 2016 Tanzania granted an "interim adoption." However, the USA would not recognize the adoption and in 2017 their visa application was denied and they had to start over. Mark and Tonya concluded that the best thing for the boys was to move them out of the orphanage and reapply for US visa's. And so in April of 2017 Marked moved to Tanzania and began to care for the boys, expecting that they could accomplish everything in a year and return home.
Mark is still in Tanzania, caring for the boys. He has not been able to work as this is prohibited under Tanzania law. This sacrifice has resulted in three years of significant financial strain on the family but has been very beneficial for the boys. Angelo and Stefano now know English and attend a good school in Arusha and are prepared to enter school in the USA. This never would have happened if the boys would have remained in the orphanage and if Mark would have remained in the USA. Their primary goal to care for their sons has been accomplished.
The COVID-19 pandemic has created a mixed blessing for the Hoopes. The processing of visa's has been drastically shortened due to the virus and the emergency evacuation of American Citizens from foreign countries that do not have adequate medical services. With the help being given by State representatives and senators the boys visa's should be granted within days of this writing. However, the economic impact of the virus has devastated Hoopes Events, their only source of income and family business, as all weddings and events through July have canceled.
Mark is hoping to get the boys on the next American government-chartered flight or commercial flight, either of which cost $3,000 per ticket. Funds are really tight right now for them due to the impact of COVID-19.
We hope to come together as a community and show our support for the Hoopes family by raising $9,000 for the flights and other travel expenses for Mark and the boys. Mark and Tonya have given everything they have to care for their sons and bring them home to Midway.
We hope to help carry this family through the finish line so they can be reunited and return safely to their home. We are trying to raise all the money in the next 1-2 weeks.
We are grateful to any and all that can donate to help reunite the family! Your donation means a lot and will be a major blessing to them! Any donations raised above our goal will be given to the family to help with clothes and school supplies.
