Help Us Build Sunflower Events & Retreat: Utah's First Fully Themed Cottage Getaway

What if your anniversary weekend meant stepping into a hobbit hideaway, a pirate ship cove, or a Japanese tea house, with a private hot tub waiting inside?

We're Weldon and April Hathaway, and we're building Sunflower Events & Retreat on 6 acres in Payson, Utah, right beside a planned freeway interchange. Our first phase is a collection of immersive themed cottages. Each one carries its story through every detail, inside and out. We have nine designs ready to go, including Halfling, Pirate, Japan, Space, Steampunk, Beach, and more.

Utah County has some of the highest marriage rates in the country, but couples looking for something truly memorable have few options. Our cottages are made for newlyweds, anniversaries, romantic escapes, and family getaways. Heated walkways will keep them comfortable all year, and we'll offer curated local adventures to make every stay unforgettable.

Where your support goes

Your contribution helps us bring the cottages to life: site work, construction, furnishing, and the finishing touches that make each one feel like another world.

What you receive

$20-$299 - Every little bit helps! A donation of just $20 will get you access to making a reservation once the cottages are built and the higher tier VIP's have made all of their initial reservations but still before we open bookings to the public. You'll also receive a discount off the total cost of your reservation matching the amount you donate within this tier.

$300 - One night stay in a cottage of your choice, 30 days to make your reservation selection before the calendar is opened for public reservations.

$800 - Three nights in one cottage or one night in three different cottages, selections available for 30 days before the full booking calendar is available to the public.

$1,000 - Seed contributor - The above listed rewards plus a custom brick engraved with a name of your choosing to be built into the project as part of construction.

$2,000 - Bud contributor - The above listed rewards plus a custom made plaque honoring your donation to be displayed prominently at the project.

$5,000 - Sunflower contributor - The above listed rewards plus a bench custom engraved and installed on the property in thanks for your support of bringing this project to life.

What comes next

Once the cottages are up and running, we plan to add a full-service event center for weddings and celebrations, followed by a pirate-themed restaurant, Captain's Cove. Our goal is a one-of-a-kind destination where you can celebrate, dine, and stay in the same place.
