Bring Sohee's Parents to Her Graduation Ceremony!!

My good friend Sohee Kang has one hope for her college graduation: to share the memory with her parents. Mr. and Mrs. Kang are dedicated and wise parents who tirelessly sacrifice for their children every day. They served in healthcare (South Korea based) as a doctor and a pharmacist, but after Covid shut down their workplaces, they have utterly lost their livelihood and have no funds to make it to the U.S. This fundraiser would be for their plane tickets to fly to Wheaton from Korea in time for graduation at Wheaton College (May 10th, 2025).

As Sohee's friend, I've watched her suffer for her family day in and day out, as they are always on her mind. To be an international student is in itself a challenge, but to know that your parents are suffering endlessly on the other side of the world makes graduation seem too difficult. Please take a few seconds to share what you can. I know many of you reading this are also college students working hard to make it through, and we see you. Any small gift within the convictions of your heart will be providential.

저는 제 가장 친한 친구인 소희를 위해 이 글을 쓰게되었습니다.

저는 작년에 대학교에서 소희의 룸메이트로 지내며 그녀와 그녀의 가정이 부도로 인해 극심한 고통을 겪는 것을 지켜보게 됐습니다. 소희의 부모님은 의사와 약사로서 일을 하셨는데, 코로나 팬데믹 때 여러 규제로 인해 경영 난을 겪게 됐습니다. 코로나 팬데믹의 큰 여파에도 불구하고 직원들과 주변 사람들을 지키기 위해 열심히 애를 쓰셨지만, 결국 그 피해를 피할 수 없게 됐습니다. 이러한 경제적인 어려움 가운데 두분께서 소희의 졸업식에 오시는것은 불가능한 상황입니다.

지난 4년간의 Wheaton College 대학 생활을 마무리하고, 앞으로의 사회생활을 준비하는 소희의 졸업식에 부모님이 함께 할 수 있다면 그녀와 그녀의 가정에 큰 힘이 될 줄 믿습니다. 또한, 어려운 가정 형편으로 인해 언제 서로를 만날 수 있을지 모르는 불확실함 속에서 소희에게 졸업식 기간 동안에라도 가족과 함께 할 수 있도록, 소중한 추억을 선사해주고 싶습니다.

기부된 돈은 한국에 계시는 부모님이 졸업식때 오시기 위한 비행기 티켓값으로 쓰여질 예정입니다.
