Bring shade & cover to Autana with a door awning

Hello all -- my name is Dory and I'm an Autana parent. After hundreds of drop offs and pick ups of our daughter in the last 1.5 years, I finally thought why not ask Patty and Raquel if we could do a community fundraiser to raise money for a retractable awning for the front entrance. Patty and Raquel were hesitant, as asking for money when parents are already paying for tuition felt like a lot. But I promised them that I'd let all of you know that this is in no way required...and just an option for those who'd like to contribute.

I imagine some (if not all) have spent time waiting outside the school in the middle of rainstorms, snowstorms or heat waves...I also imagine many of you have done this alongside other young kids or older family members. It can be hot and exposed. A retractable awning could make a big difference at pick up and drop off, and also protect Autana staff who welcome our kids in the morning and ensure a smooth pick up in the afternoon.

Patty and I spoke to 5 different manufacturers over the last 4 weeks to cost out an awning that would extend from the green vertical posts on either side of the front door (so 17 feet wide) and out towards the parking spots (10 feet deep, just past the cement platform). The best option we found for a weather-proof awning with a 10-year warranty and installation (minus a few discounts) came out to a total of $4,106.

Patty and Raquel have some funds set aside they'd like to contribute to this project, hence the $2,500 goal rather than a goal to cover the full cost. That being said, if we can raise $4,106...that would truly be amazing and they could save those funds for other projects they've been considering for a while.

So here's the ask -- we'd love your support, in whatever amount feels right to you, and if you're comfortable, forwarding this along to others who may be interested in the project. Grandparents, other family members or people who care about Autana and our school community. Anyone can contribute.
