In January 2024, Joel and Donelle sought medical help for their newborn daughter, Rose. Instead of support, they faced discrimination—and Rose was taken from them.

Medical providers labeled the parents as “apparently on the autistic spectrum” without any formal assessment. CPS later claimed Rose was removed due to weight concerns, yet records show her weight percentile declined further in state custody than in her parents’ care. Still, the state now claims she is “thriving” while blocking all visits and pursuing non-relative adoption.

For over two years, Joel and Donelle have been punished simply for asking for help.

A critical hearing on February 6, 2026, is their final chance to petition for Rose’s return. The Family Freedom Project has secured a legal team to challenge these civil rights violations, but we must raise $15,000 for legal fees and expert testimony.
