Hello! My name is Kenneth Nwosu, and I’m reaching out to you on behalf of the wonderful people of Ofenkoro Village, located in Ekwe, ISU Local Government Area, Imo State, Nigeria. We need your help to transform their lives—literally—by funding the procurement and installation of a dedicated 100 kVA step-down transformer for the village.

Why This Project?

Right now, Ofenkoro shares a single 100 kVA transformer with three neighboring communities. Due to overwhelming demand, the transformer is severely overloaded, leading to frequent power outages and dangerously low voltage. This unreliable electricity has disrupted daily life, hindered education, and made it nearly impossible for farmers and small businesses to thrive.

What Will This Fundraiser Achieve?

Your support will help us:

1. Disconnect Ofenkoro Village from the current transformer located at Umuezeofor Umdibi Ekwe.

2. Provide and install a dedicated transformer to meet the energy needs of the entire village population.

About Ofenkoro Village

This vibrant rural community is home to hardworking subsistence farmers who grow vegetables, yams, maize, cassava, and cocoyam. They have dreams of expanding their opportunities, but they cannot afford the steep cost of this project on their own. Previous fundraising efforts went toward building a community center/town hall, which now stands as a beacon of hope for the village.

The community center/town hall will house a library and internet connection, enabling students to study, access knowledge, and connect with the world. Farmers will use the internet to find buyers for their surplus produce, boosting their economic prospects. However, none of this will be possible without a reliable power supply.

How Much Do We Need?

The total estimated cost of this project is CAD $13,000 (₦11,000,000 to ₦15,500,000). Here’s the breakdown:

1. Transformer Cost: ₦8,000,000 to ₦9,500,000.

2. Installation Costs: ₦2,000,000 to ₦4,000,000 (poles, cables, insulators, labor).

3. Regulatory Fees: ₦500,000 to ₦1,000,000 (permits and approvals).

4. Miscellaneous Costs: ₦500,000 to ₦1,000,000 (surge protection, earthing systems, etc.).
