My heart is breaking for my sweet grandson. My name is Rene. I am a former Colorado resident, and former law enforcement officer for a municipality in Colorado, as well as Missouri. I have been trying desperately to secure custody of my grandson. It’s hard for me to write this, but I need your help.

He is 5 years old. He was placed by Colorado DHS in the home of a non-family member. He is living in squalid conditions in an RV, with no access to running water. He is surrounded by filth and garbage. His life has been marred by separation and abandonment, and it’s time for him to come home. I absolutely MUST bring him home.

I have worked long hours to secure the resources that he needs to thrive. I have a clean home in rural Missouri, where he will have his own room. I am gainfully employed. I have made every effort to work with Colorado DHS and had made arrangements to pick him up in Colorado. On the day of my return to Missouri, the agency advised me the transition was not going to take place. I attempted to get an emergency meeting with the judge, but it was denied. I had to make the long and painful drive home without my grandson.
