Bring Music Back After Hurricane Ian

Hi, my name is Stephen Clark.

I’m a former TV journalist, now a singer/songwriter living on Fort Myers Beach.

This past September Hurricane Ian made an unexpected turn (forecasters called it wrong). The island of Fort Myers Beach took a nearly direct hit. 20 feet of water covered the entire island, 155+ MPH winds and monster waves battered everything.

Not a single home or business was left undamaged.

Particularly hard hit were the restaurants, bars and tiki huts that attracted hundreds of thousands of tourists a year.

My fellow musicians, who made their livings playing those venues, were suddenly out of work…many are also homeless because of the storm.

My mission is simple. With your help I will pay those musicians to play again on Fort Myers Beach. Even if I have to create the venue…like a pop-up concert or three!

In the first two weeks of this campaign I hit and raised my goal twice…and I have signed up 30 musicians.

I have placed those musicians at the only 3 restaurants that have managed to open to any small degree.  I am talking to others about adding more locations…and I am finding more musicians every day.

With this fundraiser the musicians win, the struggling businesses win, my storm-weary neighbors win. And all those tourists who love the Fort Myers Beach vibe win…because even as the builders begin to rebuild, we have already restored the music.
