Hello friends,

My name is Fawzy Manaa, a Canadian citizen, and currently live with my family in Mississauga, ON.

The Manaa and Mughrabi families in Gaza have lost their homes completely and are currently staying by the Gaza-Egypt border in shelters or make-shift units. We are very concerned about their well-being and safety. Please help us bring them to Canada.

This is the residential building where my aunts Sawsan and Hala used to live in Nasr Neighborhood in City of Gaza, completely flattened.

Here are the facts:

The Canadian government has issued a temporary policy to facilitate temporary resident visas for extended family members from Gaza
We have 27 family members across 5 family units in Gaza who are eligible for the extended TRV program (including uncles, aunts and their dependent children)
All family members we're looking to bring have lost their homes from airstrikes or artillery shelling
Based on our assessment, it will take anywhere between $80,000 to $100,000 per year for a family of five (including fees at Rafah crossing, flights, rent and life expenses)
Doing the math, the burden on the family in Canada will be $80,000 times 5 families times 3 years = $1,200,000 minimum (which I am sure you can appreciate is unreasonable)
The Government of Canada has not so far provided any funding to support the Gaza families coming to Canada

We assure you that every dollar contributed will go to supporting these families directly. If the Government of Canada provides future funding, any remaining funds will be reallocated to support other Gaza families in Canada as necessary.

Family breakdown:

Family 1 (Sawsan, Hala and Aboud): Family of 3 (2 aunts and 1 child)
Family 2 (Mohammed Mughrabi and family): Family of 5 (1 uncle, his wife and 3 children)
Family 3 (Ayman Mughrabi and family): Family of 5 (1 uncle, his wife and 3 children)
Family 4 (Hussam Manaa and family): Family of 4 (1 uncle, his wife and 2 children)
Family 5 (Maysa Mughrabi and family): Family of 3 (1 cousin, her husband and 1 child)

Here is how the $50,000 is tentatively planned:

3-month rent for 3 residential units at $2,500 each = $22,500
27 flights at $1,000 each = $27,000 (to send family to look after them there and/ or get them on flights from Egypt to Canada)
Assistance with application fees (Each application including biometrics equals $185 = $4995) = remaining $500
