Bring Makale Home- Help Us Fight for His Freedom

Hi, my name is Leah, and I’m reaching out as a mother who is heartbroken, but not without hope. My son, Makale, is currently incarcerated after being falsely accused of a crime he did not commit. I’m doing everything I can to fight for him, but I need help to give him a fair chance.

Makale’s case has been mishandled, and despite our efforts, the public defender's office has failed to provide him with the appropriate, strong, and attentive defense he deserves. With several court appearances being pushed back due to the lack of availability by the assigned public defender and many other excuses, he has been railroaded by a system that too often overlooks the truth and rushes to judgment — especially when it comes to young Black men.

Makale is kind, intelligent, self-sacrificing, loves beyond measure, and is deeply loved by many. He’s someone who always puts others first and deserves the same compassion in return. He deserves a defense team that believes in him and will work tirelessly to bring him home. A private attorney is the only one who can give Makale’s case the attention and expertise it urgently needs. Unfortunately, the cost of private legal representation is far beyond what I or my family can manage alone.
