Hello everyone,
My family is facing a tremendous challenge, and we are reaching out for your help.
On October 8th, 2025, in the neighborhood of Niles in Chicago, IL, Jose Salinas, my father, was detained by ICE without a warrant. He was racially profiled at the parking lot of Home Depot. My father runs his own construction business and needed to pick up additional materials before going to work. We are now fighting to bring him back home, where his wife, three of his children, and two pets are waiting for him.
My family has been here since 2001, and my father's hard work, caring nature, and dedication to living the American dream provided me and my siblings a beautiful life here. His absence is really taking a toll on us.
My father is a rock of support for everyone around him. No matter the situation, my father is always the first to offer a helping hand. Despite what we are going through, he has remained strong for his family. We are doing everything we can to bring him back.
His absence has severely impacted us, especially my 12-year-old brother and mother, who both depend on him because they have a genetic disorder called CMT (it affects the peripheral nerves, causing muscle weakness, decreased muscle size, and sensory loss). My brother's disorder is advancing so fast that doctors are considering surgery for him. He currently uses a walker and braces to be able to walk; even then, he still needs my father's assistance to get up the stairs, get in the car, etc. This is why my mother is finding it extremely difficult without my father. My father is the main foundation that supports my family's financial and essential daily needs.
Unfortunately, the immigration system is incredibly complex and expensive. We have hired a trustworthy immigration attorney who is willing to help us fight his case, but the legal fees go beyond what our family can afford. It’s estimated that the initial and ongoing legal costs will reach or even exceed $19,700, and we need to raise this amount as soon as possible.
Every dollar raised will go directly toward:
- Legal representation and court costs
- Filing documents and motions
- Case preparation and possible bond
- Home bills that were left behind as head of the house
We cannot do it without your help. Whether it's through a donation or by sharing this page, your support means more than words can express.
Thank you for standing with us and for keeping our loved one in your thoughts and prayers.
With sincere appreciation,
Salinas Family.
