On December 22, 2025, Jose attended what was supposed to be a routine ICE check-in at the ISAP office in San Jose. Instead, he was arrested and taken into ICE custody. In a matter of moments, his wife, Ileana, and their two young daughters were left without him—just days before the holiday season.
Jose and his family came to San Jose from Honduras two years ago, full of hope and determination to build a better future for their daughters. Like many families starting over, the transition was not easy. Finding work, adjusting to a new place, and building stability took time, patience, and perseverance. Through hard work and sacrifice, they slowly created a routine and a sense of home.
Before Jose’s arrest, he was the primary provider for his family. Ileana contributed however she could, while also dedicating herself to caring for their daughters. Jose has always been a loving, hardworking husband and father, someone who believed deeply in doing things the right way and providing for his family with dignity. His sudden detention has left Ileana heartbroken, confused, and struggling to understand how their lives changed so quickly.
