"If you are paying attention to the news, you know that my community is under attack. Latinos and immigrants are being swept up and detained for nonsense reasons and in droves.
Well, if you know me, you know I wear my heart on my sleeve. So, I have horrible news: My husband is being detained by ICE at Stewart Detention Center in Lumpkin, Georgia. He was arrested on Friday, September 19th, 2025, for a traffic violation and transferred to 3 separate facilities before being sent to Stewart this past Friday, October 3rd, 2025.
My husband is not only married to an American, but he is legally in this country on a work permit and awaiting an asylum visa. That being said, he has a legitimate path to citizenship. My husband, Jorge, is a hardworking, contributing member of society who loves his work, me, our dog, and his community.
This has torn a hole in our family like you cannot imagine. My husband is resilient and is in a positive mindset. However, this system is designed to tear people down. I will NOT let THEM win.
