Help Reunite Ibrahim Griggs with His Father and Brother – Over 440 Days and Still Waiting
My name is Derrick Griggs, and I am a father fighting with every ounce of strength I have to bring my son Ibrahim home — where he belongs, with me and his brother Derrick Jr.
It has been over 440 days since I last held my youngest son. Not because I’m unfit. Not because I haven’t tried. But because of a deeply broken family court system in Monmouth County, New Jersey that continues to fail my children.
This isn’t just about custody. This is about truth. About justice. About a family’s right to be together.
Since this nightmare began, we’ve seen six different judges — and still, there is no court date set. The system has stalled, silenced, and seemingly forgotten us. But we haven’t forgotten Ibrahim. And we won’t stop fighting.
My older son, Derrick Jr., made a brave and terrifying decision: in February 2024, he walked home from school and never returned to his mother’s home, citing the emotional and psychological abuse he endured by his mother and her family. The judge who separated Ibrahim and Derrick Jr recused himself because he worked for the law firm involved in my legal action. Nevertheless, his decision to separate the children remained in effect. Derrick Jr. wanted to be safe. He wanted to be heard. The system ignored him. Worse, they took his brother away.
Instead of addressing the real issues, the other side — my widow and a network of interveners — have filed over a dozen false police reports and made at least 7 reports to child protective services, all unsubstantiated. I’ve taken and passed a polygraph test to prove my innocence.
Even the court ordered custody evaluation report states that the children were being coached. Yet still, no action has been taken to reunite us.
One judge even openly acknowledged in court that “people use domestic violence as a tool to gain advantage in divorce proceedings.” That chilling truth has become our reality.
My sons need to be together. They need peace. They need their father.
We are asking for your help to:
• Hire the legal firepower needed to fight against this abuse of process.
• Cover the mounting legal and documentation costs as we continue pushing for justice.
• Expose the pattern of manipulation and misused systems that are hurting so many other families too.
• Help us continue to safely support and care for Derrick Jr., who has bravely endured.
This fight is exhausting. Emotionally. Mentally. Financially (over $330K and counting). But I will never stop fighting for my children.
If you can contribute — even just a few dollars — it helps. If you can’t, please share our story. Help us raise awareness. Help us bring Ibrahim home.
They’ve tried to silence us. But we are still standing. Still speaking. Still fighting.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
