A Mother’s Plea for Stability and Hope This Holiday Season
Hello, my name is Kenya, and I am reaching out with a heavy heart and a sincere request for help for myself and my children. Asking for assistance in this way is deeply humbling, and it is something I never imagined I would have to do. But as a mother, I am putting my pride aside for the sake of my children’s safety and stability.
I am currently behind $1,585.23 on our rent. I work full-time as a daycare teacher, and I am also enrolled in school, trying every day to build a better life for my family. My boys are in school as well, and I am the sole provider in our home. Even with steady work, rising costs and unexpected setbacks have placed us in a very difficult position.
This holiday season has been especially hard. We were unable to celebrate Halloween or Thanksgiving, and as of right now, Christmas is looking the same. As a mother, it breaks my heart to see my kids trying to stay positive while I quietly struggle to keep our household together.
I have set a goal of $2,000 to help us catch up on rent, keep our electricity on, and—if possible—allow my children to experience even a small part of the joy that the holidays are supposed to bring. I am not asking for luxury or extras. I simply want to keep a stable home for my children and protect them from the fear and uncertainty that come with financial hardship.
This is embarrassing to share, but it is the truth of where we are right now. If I did not truly need the help, I would not be here asking. Any support—big or small—would mean more to us than words can ever express. Your kindness could be the reason my family makes it through this season with hope still in our hearts.
Thank you for taking the time to read our story and for considering helping us during this difficult time. Your compassion and generosity would be deeply appreciated.
