My niece Missy's little boy, Jayden, has been diagnosed with B Cell Lymphoblastic Leukemia. This all came on very suddenly this Monday as he wasn't feeling well, and she took him to the doctors. They did lab work, and once the results were back, the doctor called to tell Missy she needed to get him down to Boston's Children's Hospital. He ended up needing 4 blood transfusions starting that night in the ICU. Once his blood levels were up enough Tuesday, he was transferred to a regular unit. Then, Wednesday afternoon, he had a bone marrow and spinal tap. He also received his first dose of chemotherapy. Her plan as of Wednesday is that she will be at the hospital with him for the next month, so she will be missing a lot of work and not bringing in any money. Then there will be outpatient visits weekly.
Jayden is the happiest 3-year-old I have ever known. It's not very often that you won't find him without a big smile on his face. He has a 9-year-old sister, Aubree, back at home who is missing him immensely. His dad Marlon has also been by his side throughout this emotional time.
Missy and Marlon have had a lot thrown at them in just a few days. She could really use all the love and support that she can get. I will post regular updates to keep everyone up on how things are going.
