My name is Shinell Bennett, and I’m originally from Claremont, St. Ann, Jamaica. I now live in the United States, and I am the only family member currently living outside of Jamaica. All of my loved ones and relatives still live on the island, and seeing what they and so many others are going through after this devastating storm has broken my heart.

On October 28, 2025, Jamaica was hit by a Category 5 hurricane, causing widespread destruction and loss. Homes have been destroyed, communities flooded, and families are struggling just to meet their daily needs. I never imagined I would ever create a GoFundMe, but after seeing the suffering of my family and community, I knew I had to step in and do something to help.

This fundraiser was created to support my family, neighbors, and other affected community members in Jamaica who have lost so much. Inspired by our national motto, “Out of Many, One People,” I want to help bring hope and relief to those in need — especially those in smaller communities that often go unnoticed.

The funds raised will be used primarily to provide essential necessities, including:

• Food and clean water for families in need

• Clothing for those who lost everything in the storm

• Toiletries and hygiene supplies

• Other basic household items to help people recover and rebuild

Every dollar will go directly toward helping families and individuals in Jamaica who are struggling to get back on their feet.

Your support — whether through a donation, sharing this campaign, or simply offering your prayers — means more than words can express. Together, we can bring comfort, strength, and hope to those who need it most.

Thank you for your kindness, compassion, and generosity. ❤️
