“I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you”- John 14:18

To Our Champions:

When we met in Bible College, we knew it was going to be forever. We, like so many of you I’m sure, spent long dates dreaming up our future, which we thought would consist of six children, four biological and two adopted. We didn’t plan everything down to the minute, but we had a general idea for our life. Ha.

We married in June, 2006, had our first daughter in March, 2008,

our next daughter in July, 2010,

and our next daughter in May, 2012.

We know. Three girls. Bless our little hearts. ;-)

In July, 2013, we learned Danielle was pregnant with our fourth child. This was not an expected pregnancy, but we are of the belief that children are gifts from the Lord and we were excited to welcome another precious life into our world. In October, 2013, we learned Danielle had miscarried. It was devastating. We never knew the pain that accompanies that word, and never thought it would happen to us, but it did. The heartbreak was worse than we can express, and our hearts go out to anyone who has ever lost a child this way, no matter how early.

Fast forward one month later. To November. It was Danielle’s 27th birthday, and a typhoon hit the Philippines. We watched in horror as families witnessed their loved ones wash ashore. We knew we had to do something, and began researching adoption from the Philippines. Requirements were as follows:

-Married a minimum of 5 years- check

-Church attendance of 5 years or more- check (Shout out to Stony Point Christian Fellowship!)

-No more than 3 biological children in the home- ouch. check.

-Minimum age of 27 years old- check (by a few days)

Our sweet friend, and Pastor’s daughter, delivered a message about the call to adopt a few weeks after this, and it was confirmed in our hearts, this was what we were supposed to do. We applied in December 2013 to adopt between 1 and 2 children. The following August (2014) our paperwork was received and approved by the Philippines, and we waited (through 2015), and waited (through 2016), and waited ...until May of this year (2017) for our match.

We are proud to announce that a 2-year-old little boy is due to join our family in two weeks! We cannot wait!

We are incredibly grateful to the Lord for His provision in our lives. As we look back over the years, we see how He has moved His hand over our path to prepare our  family for this moment. We know He has promised to finish what He has started, and we trust Him to provide. We are grateful for the love that has already been given to our little boy and the many hands who have kept him safe all this time.

International adoption comes at a considerable financial cost. We are grateful for our family, church family, and friends who have already given so much to bring our sweet boy home. We don’t want anyone who is unable to give financially to feel guilty, and we thank you for your prayers which we have felt throughout these years, and ask for continued prayer as we move forward.

At this point, all we have left to pay for is our travel (this alone is a miracle in itself). We have already booked our flights and will be leaving this Thursday to bring our boy home for Christmas!

Currently, due to a work injury and recovery, Omar is not earning his full income. We are hoping he will be cleared to return to work at full-capacity within the next couple months, but our budget has been tight as we have pinched every penny to make our trip to the Philippines possible.

If it is in your heart to give financially toward the final step in our adoption, we would be so honored and appreciative.

With endless Love and Gratitude we write this,

Omar and Danielle

P.S. The summer after we applied to adopt, this song came out and has been the anthem of our adoption since. He is Faithful!
