Cause
Given the unprecedented financial crisis brought on by the Covid-19 pandemic, many are having to forego basic needs to stay afloat. For Kyle McAllaster and his family, the last time they had heating in their home was 2 months ago when their furnace broke. Like many families across the United States, Kyle’s family has experienced loss of employment and decreasing opportunity in the lackluster job market, along with ongoing medical challenges that have required home care since before the pandemic. With Washington rushing into its coldest months ahead, Kyle and his family will need heating for their home soon. We as Kyle’s friends wish to incite our community and loved ones to gather funds for Kyle and his family to pay for a replacement furnace as well as its installation.
Goal & Allocation
We are looking to raise $7500 to cover the costs of the new heating unit and the labor required for installation. Every little bit helps. All additional funds raised will be donated to support the family and alleviate other financial burdens this year.
Friends as Family
6 years ago, Kyle and the rest of our friends formed a tight-knit group in high school that has only grown closer over the years. Whether on a weekly, monthly, and mostly-daily basis, we have shared laughs and had each other’s backs in the best and worst of times. Our favorite past times are going camping, seeing movies, playing games, using coupons at fast food joints, and filming low-budget videos. Kyle is known by each of us as someone who truly loves those around him. He is warm, inclusive, and listens intently to each of us. We love him, he’s awesome, we talk to him virtually every day, and our hearts were broken to learn he and his family were struggling to keep warm.
