We're reuniting 85 year old butterfly expert Dr. Gary Noel Ross with his most beloved, long lost tapestry he traded away in an art deal over 30 years ago. This tapestry was hand-woven by his now deceased close friend, Isaac Vásquez G., a master Zapotec weaver from Teotitlán del Valle, Oaxaca, Mexico. Learning in conversation that this was Gary's most prized possession that he, to this day, regrets trading away, I tracked it down across the country to internationally recognized sculptor Al Lavergne's estate in Western Michigan. Now, I need your help in this cross-country, lost-art scavenger hunt to get this treasured tapestry back into the hands of the man who it slipped away from many decades ago.
Your donation goes towards:
- The cost of buying the piece back from its now owners, the heirs of Al Lavergne's estate ($1,000)
- The shipping cost to send it down to Louisiana ($150)
- 1 copy of Dr. Ross' new book ($50) and 1 Patrick Henry Butterfly Art piece ($50) for the heir I have been in contact with who helped organize this art exchange and will help hand deliver this piece to Dr. Ross.
