Some of you know the ordeal my sister Lizeth has been enduring since she left her abusive relationship 10 years ago. For those who don't, here's a quick synopsis. My sister Lizeth had full custody of her children . Every other year, her ex- has brought forth false accusations to fight that and try to gain full custody of their children.  I'm starting this to help her pay for her legal fees in this current battle. 

383 days- that's how long it's been since Delilah has been home this time. The last time it was 108 days (yes, it's happened before).  On Friday,  March 13th, 2020, Delilah left for school to spend the weekend with her dad, not knowing that she would spend  383 days away from her mom and family. Her father used the COVID-19 pandemic to withhold her and Lizeth was unable to get help from any authorities because Delilah was in the care of her father.  During this time, Lizeth has only seen Delilah in co-joint therapy sessions. Father refuses to follow court orders to facilitate exchanges and communication.  

$65, 000 is the amount Lizeth has accumulated in attorney fees fighting for the right to have her daughter in her care. $18,000 in the month of March alone.  They go to trial in April to determine child custody. Apart from attorney fees, Lizeth will have fees for expert witnesses to testify about the residual effects of Domestic Violence on children and parent alienation.

Algunos de ustedes saben la terrible experiencia que mi hermana Lizeth ha estado soportando desde que dejó su relación abusiva hace 10 años. Para los que no saben, mi hermana Lizeth tenía la custodia total de sus hijos. Cada dos años, su ex ha presentado acusaciones falsas para luchar contra eso y tratar de obtener la custodia total de sus hijos. Estoy comenzando esto para ayudarla a pagar sus honorarios legales en esta batalla actual. 

383 días: ese es el tiempo que ha pasado desde que Delilah estuvo en casa esta vez. La última vez fueron 108 días (sí, sucedió antes). El viernes 13 de marzo de 2020, Delilah se fue a la escuela para pasar el fin de semana con su papá, sin saber que pasaría 383 días lejos de su mamá y su familia. Su padre usó la pandemia de COVID-19 para retenerla y Lizeth no pudo obtener ayuda de ninguna autoridad porque Delilah estaba al cuidado de su padre. Durante este tiempo, Lizeth solo ha visto a Delilah en sesiones de terapia conjunta. El padre se niega a seguir las órdenes judiciales para facilitar los intercambios y la comunicación.

$65,000 es la cantidad que Lizeth ha acumulado en honorarios de abogados que luchan por el derecho de tener a su hija. $18,000 solo en el mes de marzo. Van a juicio en abril para determinar la custodia de Delilah. Además de los honorarios de los abogados, Lizeth tendrá que pagar honorarios por testigos expertos para que testifiquen sobre los efectos residuales de la violencia doméstica en los niños y la alienación de los padres.
