Bring Dad, Brother and the dog Rocco into Sunshine

Hello friends,

My dad has a dream, like many others, of living out his days in the sunshine and palm trees of South Florida. When he was just 17, he got the opportunity and moved. Unfortunately, being so young, he never found work and was forced back 'home' to Ohio. I had the same dream; fortunately enough, I've been in Florida for the past 13 years. But, it hasn't all been a dream. That's 13 years away from my family and friends for months, sometimes years at a time.

I'm reaching out today to help fulfill my dad's dream and bring my family close again. My mother passed away on Thanksgiving last year (2024), leaving just my dad, brother, and Rocco (their black lab) with no real place to call home or real future to look forward to. Being laid off from his welding career of 35 years, my dad is on a fixed income (SSI) but decided to try and make a move, a move to Florida. He bought a $900 motorhome but found out very quickly it would need more than that in just repairs to make it. It runs, looks OK, but the roof leaks extremely bad and will make it impossible to live in. The roof will need to be repaired, and due to water damage, the interior is rotted and also needs to be replaced. I saw the video today of the roof leaking while it was raining, and it broke me down, down so far it inspired this fundraiser.

I'm asking for help to get him an RV/Motorhome that he can just get in and drive, nothing to worry about or fix. My mother always said, 'if something happens to me, pack up and go to Joe in Florida'.
