Bring CLEAN WATER to Bystrany, Slovakia
Donation protected
Have you ever gone a day without clean water or any water at all?
Unfortunately, this is all too common in the village of Bystrany, Slovakia. A small Roma settlement outside the town of Spišská Nová Ves. Tucked away in the mountains of Slovakia live the Roma, often referred to negatively as, “Gypsy” people. They have been outcasted by society, isolated to run down villages and segregated from the general population. Discriminated against with few opportunities for employment, higher education and little access to CLEAN WATER.

My birth family including my Mom, Dad, sisters, brothers and close relatives live in the village of Bystrany. This is where I’m from and I am on a mission to help them and I kindly ask for your help too. Let’s work together to bring them a water source that is clean and clear of pollutants.

100% of your donations will go to drilling a deep water well that will tap into the underground water source underneath Bystrany. This will provide clean water to many families in need not just mine. My goal is to raise $10,000 which will go towards hiring a professional and local well drilling company to drill and maintain the well for up to 100 years. It will also go towards installing the necessary pumping and filtration systems to operate it.

Currently, what little water is available to the Roma community is often collected in shallow wells that were dug outside their homes many years ago. They rely on rainfall to fill the wells but often they are not deep enough to supply more than a weeks worth of water. The wells dry up and they end up going days or weeks without water while they wait for rain to come again. They are depending on the gathering of rain water to survive but that rain water is not a reliable and healthy source.

On top of the constant worry of a drought, the water they are drinking, using to bathe and cook their food is highly contaminated with bacteria and heavy metals. They often find themselves coping with illness directly linked to drinking unsafe and dirty water. This can include acute and chronic toxicity, liver, kidney and intestinal damage, anemia, dysenteries, salmonella, cancer, etc.
You can help make a difference for a family, a child or even an entire village by simply donating $1 today.
