Hi, my name is Leissa. Every year a couple of us families get together and bring Christmas to the homeless. This started over five years back when I was clearing out some blankets and other items near Christmas. I thought wow this would be great to bring downtown to the homeless on Christmas morning. Then I thought maybe others have some they could contribute. Before I knew it, I had6 bags of blankets, sweaters, and jackets. It was an amazing gift to be able to bring these items to the homeless on Christmas morning. They were all so grateful. Since then, the event has grown to include others helping and contributing. If you have any items or can donate anything to help us purchase the items, we would be so grateful. A little over 9 years ago I was lost, just a shell of a person and I too was homeless. I was spiritually bankrupt and a full-blown alcoholic. Today I am over 9 years sober and extremely blessed and can give back. We don't just go to downtown...we go to the areas other people will not go. It still amazes me that you can walk by and not even realize there is a person beneath the boxes, bags and if they are lucky a blanket. Yes, we need change...but we also need to be the change we want to see. "We are not all in the same boat, but we are all in the same storm". Thank you for taking the time to read this.
