Bring Carlos Home: Reunite Father and Daughter
Donation protected
Hi everyone, my name is Katherine.
I put together this fundraiser for my Tio Carlos (who is my cousin Brenda’s dad). He pretty much watched my brother and I grow up our whole lives until he had to move to Ecuador for health reasons. Brenda is my younger cousin whom I’ve watched grow since a baby into the young woman she is now.
My uncle was diagnosed with kidney failure in 2017. He had to go through dialysis for about two years before he left to Ecuador after being let go from his job due to physical incapability. Without a source of income, and all while being an immigrant, he had no way to continue his treatment. Without income & treatment, he had no choice but to move back to Ecuador and leave Brenda in New York with her mom.
In 2019, my aunts/uncles put together two separate fundraisers to help him kickstart his life in Ecuador. I feel it is now my duty to step up to the plate & continue the work my family started.
After 5 years my uncle is ready to come back home and reunite with his daughter. In order to do that, my uncle has to go through a long and expensive process with lawyers. My goal here is to raise as much as we can to aid him with these expenses.
No amount is too small, whatever amount you can find in your heart to donate is more than enough for us. If you are unable to donate (which is totally okay), it would mean the absolute world to us for you to share his story.
If you got this far, thank you for reading & listening!
A few words from Brenda:
”Hi guys,
Some of you may know my dad has had kidney failure since 2017 and because of that he had to move back to Ecuador. It was a tough transition from seeing him almost every day to once a year when I could visit him. My dad and I are very close so it was such a hard time for me and it honestly hasn’t been any easier. However, I knew that at the time it was the best decision for him and his health. I am forever grateful that he is alive and all I have to do is take a plane ride to see him. But now, after 5 years, I would really love to bring him back home. Especially now that I’m older, I will be able to help him physically and financially the way I couldn’t before. I’ve been saving as much as I can to start the process but I still have a long way to go.
Thanks to the suggestion from my family, this fundraiser was made to help afford the costs of a lawyer both here and in Ecuador and hopefully we can reach our goal. I am super thankful to anyone who donates or shares any advice they have! Thank you”
