On July 30, 2025, Carissa passed on to heaven after a long battle with cancer. She endured a fourth surgery at City of Hope in California on June 27th, but we didn't have as much success as with her previous surgeries. She spent a month in the hospital, but things started to change drastically in the last couple of weeks, and her heart, lungs, and kidneys started to struggle.

Anyone who knows Carissa knows she was determined to beat this and believed with every ounce of her being in a miracle. Her motto was to choose joy, and she lived that every day.

In the end, Carissa's family all gathered around her and prayed together. She was surrounded by love and prayers.
