Mrs. Burkhard, an amazing educator, was moved from Mandalay schools, after 27 years, due to a complaint made against her from a brand new employee, working for the district for one year,  for "harassment."   Anyone that knows Mrs, B, knows she is not capable of harassment. Administrators mishandled this claim.  There was no fair investigation of the claim and no attempt at mediation of these two colleagues was made.  She was NOT allowed to help our students through this transition, and this entire situation has caused  tremendous emotional and educational regression for the Mandalay students. Mrs. Burkhard’s reputation has been tarnished beyond repair and her character has been attacked after she has gone above and beyond for the last 27 years each and everyday for our kids. The move, without explanation, has done damage all around. We all deserve better than this. Even now, after all parties are in agreement, and the union agrees, that her return would be best for the children, administration continues to refuse to return her to Mandalay. Our children's needs should be considered and prioritized.  We intend to raise money to hire an attorney to fight the district on her and our behalf to have this matter addressed and to have her reinstated. PLEASE DONATE!!  Please consider this matter as important as we do.  THIS AFFECTS ALL OF OUR CHILDREN, not just Mandalay.  If this can happen here, this can happen in any school, at any time.  Don't consider yourselves immune to administration's arbitrary decisions or singular agenda's.  PLEASE DONATE to this very JUST CAUSE!!  Return what is RIGHT in our community!!  Take back what is right and just for our children.  Make our children's needs the FIRST CHOICE!! It is OUR CHILDREN that benefit from correcting this.  All the children of the Wantagh School District, not just Mandalay.
