June Balloon was a neighborhood festival for kids in Crown Heights, Brooklyn in the 80s and 90s. When it ended in 2001, Crown Heights was on the verge of a period of rapid gentrification and increased policing; today, many long-time residents are fighting for their right to stay in the homes they grew up in and raise a new generation. We need to build community more than ever in the fact of rising fascism and predatory landlords and organized abandonment from the state. The children are our future -- so let's bring June Balloon back for them!

The Crown Heights CARE Collective and Another World, with the help of our local block associations and grassroots community organizers, plan to bring back the festival this June 2026. But to do so, we need community support to pay for permits, performers, materials, and food!
