Bring Back Black Girl Magic Day in Harlem ✨

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Tanika Salmon — I’m a community event organizer, hairstylist, creative director, and the founder of Black Girl Magic Day.

I started this event in Harlem during the height of COVID, when the world was especially heavy for Black families. As a Black woman who once struggled with self-worth — who grew up wishing I wasn’t Black — I knew what these girls were up against. I created Black Girl Magic Day to say:
You are seen. You are powerful. You are loved.

The impact has been so real that Power 105.1 FM partnered with us, and Star Magazine not only featured the event, but requested to collaborate on the next one. We even had our own radio announcement — the love is real, and growing.

From the very first year in 2020, this event has been a full experience for girls ages 2 to 13 — with beauty stations, affirmations, gift bags, hair styling, and even a pink carpet entrance where they get to walk like stars and pose for photos. And yes, the event is 100% free for the families who attend.

Every single part of this day is designed to pour love back into our girls, build their confidence, and remind them who they truly are — no matter what the world tries to tell them.
