Bring Baby Freddie Home!
Freddie was born on the beautiful island of Vava’u, Tonga last year. Her loving adoptive parents, Demetras and Tina Byrd of Las Vegas, Nevada, flew to Vava’u in February of this year to finalize Freddie’s adoption and bring her home. Her adoption was finalized at the beginning of March. Tina stayed in Tonga with Freddie awaiting Freddie’s American passport and visa interview that was planned to be carried out in Fiji at the United States embassy in Suva.
While Tina stayed with Freddie, Demetras returned home to their sons in Las Vegas, eager to prepare for Freddie’s arrival. A few days after returning home, however, the worldwide pandemic forced country boarders to close as well as closed any and all federal agencies, including the embassy set to issue Freddie’s visa and passport.
Tina and Freddie have been patiently waiting out the pandemic for over 6 months now. The Byrds have not only paid adoption and attorney fees, but they have been paying to live out of a hotel for 6 months, an expense that they did not plan for when they left for Tonga in February.
Recently, they were granted special permission to finally leave Tonga to travel to Fiji for Freddie’s interview at the embassy. Because the pandemic is still a concern, the Fijian government is requiring that Tina and Freddie quarantine for 14 days in a hotel of the government’s choosing. Again, another unexpected expense.
We want to help the Byrd’s bring Freddie home. This has been an excruciatingly trying time for their family and we want to help lift some of the financial burden from them so that the rest of Freddie’s journey home to Las Vegas will be a little bit less stressful. The Byrd’s have the biggest hearts and have always been a source of relief for others. Let’s band together and show them how much we love them and how excited we are to help bring Freddie home!
