In November of 2023 after three years of infertility, we got news that we would not be able to have biological children. There are too many words to express the level of devastation news like this brings. It is this crazy mixed bag of emotions ranging from anger to sadness, and relief that you finally have answers. Before we even got confirmation that we may not be able to have biological children, we had already started to prepare our hearts and minds for the idea of adoption. Once we got the official news, we allowed ourselves to grieve then started the process of adopting. At the end of the day we just want to be a mom and dad, regardless of how this baby comes into our lives. We have two options when life takes a turn down what seems like an impossible road, and that is to either focus on the no's or focus on the incredible laundry list of YES's that God has given us. So we leaned into that. We GET to adopt. We get the incredible privilege of giving a child a second chance at a loving and safe life. We get to show Jesus to a child. It is the most beautiful gift. I can not even begin to tell you the joy I feel when I think about getting that call, the call that will tell us we are finally parents.
So much of this process is daunting, but nothing about how God has opened the doors for this has surprised us, He just keeps showing up.
At the end of the day, we are just a ministry couple who is praying and asking God to provide the means to bring our baby home. That number is a big number so here is a breakdown of a few of the big ticket items that cost in private adoption: consultant fees, home study fee, agency fees, lawyer fees, travel fees, birth parent support fees. It is all there. 100% of the money we are raising here goes straight towards our adoption needs. We will also be holding several different fundraisers including a large rummage sale on April 13th at our church. We are stepping out and asking God to help us come up with this money as soon as possible. If you have read this and feel lead to help us bring our baby home we would be forever grateful. But more than anything we want and need prayers during this time. So much change has happened in our lives, and God has never once stopped being good.
