As most of you know, we are foster parents (in San Diego, CA) to three beautiful children who just had a new baby sister born in July. We are in the process of adopting the three older children, and would like to adopt her as well. The new baby (Baby A') was born in the Central California area about two months premature, was released from the hospital four weeks ago, and placed into a temporary foster home. The biological parents have lived in San Diego the past few years; however, the biological mother decided to move to Central California, and ended up having the baby there. The mother was extradited back to San Diego under Sheriff's custody... due to criminal cases in San Diego. So now the baby is in limbo in the court system up north. We are hoping the case will be moved to San Diego. In the meantime, our family has been driving our vehicle up north the last four weekends (8 hours each way) to visit and bond with the new baby. We also have been flying up to her court hearings, which so far have been donated by friends. What we need help with... We need funds to cover our expenses for travel, hotels, and quite possibly an attorney who can advise us on how to proceed. We ultimately want her placed with us to allow her to grow up with her siblings. In the last month we have spent over $2,000 (beyond donations) but we know she is more than worth it.
