My name is April Munguia and I recently traveled to El Salvador for my husband's immigrant visa interview with our two children, Gabriel (7) and Naomi (5). We have been waiting 7 1/2 years to get to this moment and thought this chapter was going to finally be over. Everything changed on July 15th, 2025, when despite all odds, his case was denied. We have been working with an immigration attorney since the start of our case and now face an uphill legal battle trying to get my husband back to the United States.

I am 4 months pregnant with our third child and now the sole financial provider for our family. I am in a state of true and utter despair trying to figure out how we are going to survive this financially, emotionally, and psychologically. I never imagined myself having to ask for this type of support from others, but out of necessity for my family, I need to share our story and pursue any avenues that will help us survive this unimaginable burden.

At the present moment, we are facing separation for an unknown amount of time with our lawyer telling us to be prepared for more than a year before we can get my husband back, if at all. The kids and I are returning to our home in Dracut, MA, on August 15th, 2025, and I fear what the future holds for all of us. I appreciate any and all help more than I can express in words and have been truly touched by the support that has already been offered.
