Together2, formerly known as Rozelle Neighbourhood Centre, and Jakalene, a local Aboriginal person, are planning a trip to the remote community of Weilmoringle in North Western NSW next month. Jakalene and her two sons share a deep connection to the Weilmoringle community, and they travel every year to forge precious family and kinship bonds.
The community of 90 people face significant challenges due to a lack of access to essential services. With the nearest supermarket 100km away, and only a handful of community members with a car, a trip to the shops requires considerable effort. Other significant challenges include limited prospects for further education and limited employment opportunities. The absence of government support has left the community feeling neglected and abandoned.
In an effort to make a positive impact, we aim to deliver a truckload of supplies donated by generous individuals. Supplies include toys, shoes, clothes, bed linen, dry goods, and other basics to help make life a little easier for the people of Weilmoringle and to show the community that they have not been forgotten and that people in Sydney genuinely care about their well-being.
