After the overwhelming success of our Christmas lights display in 2023, where we raised an incredible £1,600 to support Polly’s ongoing treatment, we are thrilled to light up our home once again this year!

The Complexity Behind the Magic

Our Christmas lights display isn’t just a collection of decorations—it’s a meticulously choreographed light show that takes months of planning, designing, and technical precision. Each sequence is carefully crafted to synchronize with music, creating an immersive experience for everyone who visits.

The LEDs we use are 5V WS2811, individually addressable and capable of producing vibrant colors and patterns. These are controlled by a Falcon controller, supported by multiple power supply units to ensure consistent performance. At the heart of the system is a microcomputer, which processes the sequences and sends precise commands to bring the display to life.

The journey begins as a concept in early summer, followed by the design and hand-building of each prop. Every element of the display is uniquely created, with attention to detail to ensure it fits seamlessly into the overall choreography. The process requires creativity, patience, and technical expertise, but seeing the joy it brings to the community makes it all worthwhile.
