Bridgey’s Race to Dot Day
Donation protected
Hi! My name is Bridget. I was born and raised in Dorchester, MA also known as a Dot Rat.. cute I know. I grew up in a small neighborhood called Savin Hill, where everyone knew everyone and you could play on the street while everyone’s parents would keep an eye on each other’s kids.
The first Sunday of June, we thought was the coolest day. My family and I would walk down to the corner of Savin Hill and Dot Ave. to sit curbside and wait for the Dot Day Parade to march by. Constantly staring down the street sometimes waiting hours for it to start until you finally heard the sounds of the sirens.. you knew it was coming.
Fast forward to summer 2024 with 2 kids of my own and a million nieces and nephews later.. the excitement in my daughter’s face when the Local Dance teams and Marching bands walk by is unforgettable. The people strolling up and down selling expensive toys in carts won’t stop walking by until they sell an obnoxious blow horn, blow up Spider-Man or little pop-it snap things that covered the streets.
This special day is the reason why I’m running for Mayor of Dorchester this year. All of the donations go directly to the Dorchester Day Committee to fund the Dot Day Parade on Sunday June 1st, 2025.
My hope is to bring back the excitement that this tradition brought to me and still brings to my family and others in this amazing neighborhood that we love.
Any donation is so appreciated to help me win the Mayor Of Dot race so I can lead the Dot Day Parade this year with my family. Thank you!!!!
