Hello, my name is Kateland Ellis. I hate even typing this, but my son and I have escaped from four years of domestic violence, and we are fighting every single day to rebuild. Right now, we are living in a domestic violence shelter.
I have an amazing job opportunity starting soon that could finally give us the stability and safety we've been working toward. But we have no transportation. My car was repossessed during maternity leave when my abuser refused to pay. My tax refund was stolen. I have no savings and no family support. Every day feels like survival, and I am running out of options. I am desperately making calls and scrambling every day to ensure we don't start again at square one.
Here's the urgent truth:
• If I can't get to work, my son Anzel can't stay in daycare.
• If he loses daycare, I lose my ability to work.
• Without this, everything we've fought for unravels.
I've reached out to every resource I can find. My shelter does not provide transportation, and I've exhausted every option. I am asking for $1,000 to secure a reliable point-A-to-B vehicle (from Facebook Marketplace or locally) so I can get to work and keep Anzel in daycare. This small amount would break the cycle and finally give us a way forward.
We are so close to turning a corner. I just need this bridge to get there. Anything helps — a donation, sharing this link, or connecting us to other resources. Every bit increases our chances of safety, stability, and freedom.
Thank you for reading and for caring about a mom and son fighting to rebuild their lives.
