We donated $800 this month to help an Afghan refugee family in New Haven who lost their SNAP benefits.

Hi everyone,

I’ve been working closely with an Afghan family who have been living in the U.S. for a couple of years. They’re a wonderful, hardworking family of six with a baby on the way, a deaf child, and another child with severe disabilities.

Unfortunately, their SNAP (food assistance) benefits were recently canceled, and the Department of Social Services has said they cannot reapply until February. This leaves them without critical support for the next several months.

I’ve created a GoFundMe to help cover what they’re losing in SNAP benefits, just enough to help them buy groceries, diapers, and other basic necessities until they can reapply.
