Bridge Creative: Taking on Tough Mudder to Break Barriers in Employment
Bridge Creative was founded to tackle one of the biggest injustices in our society: the lack of employment opportunities for adults with learning disabilities and autistic adults.
When we started, only 11 people with a learning disability in a county of over 500,000 were in paid work. That had to change.
Our founder, Ben Tinkler, first saw the potential for something different while working in a day service and organising a local music festival. He supported a young man to work at the event, and watched his confidence and sense of purpose transform. That spark became Bridge Creative.
We now support over 300 people across the North East and London, working with some of the biggest names in the events, arts, and creative industries to open up real, paid, inclusive jobs.
This year, some of our team (including autistic staff and staff with learning disabilities) are taking on the Yorkshire Tough Mudder to raise vital funds for our work.
✊ We're not doing this for fun (though we’ll probably laugh through the mud). We're doing it to raise awareness, challenge stereotypes, and raise funds to create more life-changing opportunities.
Every donation helps us cover things like:
Travel and support for people working at national events
Mentors and support staff to help people succeed in new roles
Accessible training and work placements
New paid jobs for people often left out of the workforce
Help us break barriers, smash stereotypes, and create real change – one muddy step at a time
A massive good luck and thank you to Grant, Erica, Dean and Aiden for taking on this incredible challenge. They'll be competing at the Yorkshire Tough Mudder on Sunday 27th July 2025!
Thank you for supporting our mission.
