The Brickhill neighborhood has big open fields and even some hills that were perfect for a grassroots soccer program that grew to include 25 kids this fall.  Now that it's covered in snow, the families asked how something like this could continue, so we're starting a ski program on Sundays!  Many families in the program have never skied before, and so in addition to lessons, we're putting together ski packages for families to keep and use at home for the winter.  This fundraiser will go towards skis, boots, and poles for each kid.  They will return them at the end of the winter, and this set be used in following years in our own "ski lease" program. 

As most people know, cost is a real barrier to entering into winter sports, but the benefits are huge for maintaining both mental & physical health throughout the winter.  About half of the participating families would not have room in their budget for a set of skis/boots for a new sport, but they deserve some bliss this winter!

We have pulled together 7 or 8 sets of equipment from donations and FB Marketplace, but it's not quite enough.  And just like the soccer program, word will spread fast and I want to be ready to accommodate new skiers when they look out their window and decide to join us. 

A used set of boots = $20-50
A used set of skis = $60-80
A used set of poles = $15-20
