Brian Daley

On Sept 6. 2022 our son, brother, nephew, cousin, grandchild, friend & father was involved in a horrific motorcycle accident in Brentwood, CA, ultimately leading him to being Life Flighted to John Muir Medical Center, Trauma Unit in Walnut Creek.

The initial outcome was uncertain but being a strong 25 year old has worked to his favor & he is making steady but slow strides forward.

Life for Brian after this accident will look different. He had 7 surgeries in 6 days (and another scheduled for Wednesday, 9/21/22) to help with the injuries he sustained:

- severe head trauma, with multiple brain bleeds

- shattered pelvis & right hip sock

- broken tibia

- broken fibula

- broken ribs

- broken jaw

- lacerated kidney & liver

- dislocated wrist with torn ligaments

- 3rd degree burns on his arm & leg

It’s still too soon to know the success of the surgeries or the long-term effects on his brain and body. We do know life as he lived it before will be different. Brian will be in a wheelchair for some time & will need to learn to walk again. This rehab process will require either occupational rehab or a skilled nursing facility. Brian is still in the Trauma Unit at John Muir & as he continues to improve the direction of rehab will become more apparent & directional with the assistance of his wonderful medical team.

He has been in the hospital for 2 weeks. We do not have an ETA on when he will move out of the Trauma Unit or even released to start the extensive therapy needed.

With these injuries comes a loss of job & loss of income. An abundance of medical expenses, rehab expenses, life flight expenses, and unforeseen expenses. Also, a good chance of home modifications.

So many friends and family members have asked what they can do to help.

This is it.

It takes a village & we stand strong with Brian & are committed to keeping him moving forward. He can do this!
